Description

The Star of David Engraved Wood Cremation Urn is a solid wood cremation urn with graphics and text laser-engraved on the face and optional backside poem engraving. The Classic Series Religious Urn is a combination of select grade solid red oak wood. This urn is engraved with a religious graphic and up to 3 lines of text (maximum of 35 characters per line including spaces) for name, sentiment, and dates. You will receive a proof (sample of engraving) for your review and approval before engraving begins. They are available in five sizes.

Cremains are loaded through the bottom with the removal of 4 to 8 (depending on urn size) #2 Phillips Square Head screws. A 2 millimeter poly liner is included with each urn to place the cremains into before placing inside the urn. Since each urn is unique, grain patterns and wood color will vary slightly.

An optional Memory Chest is available for this urn. The Memory Chest is a separated compartment which can be added as an insert and has a hinged top. The memory chest is a great place to keep cherished items and mementos (i.e. medals, jewelry and photos) of your loved one, while the separated lower area of the urn holds the cremains. The memory chest is beautifully lined with a hunter green felt flocking on the sides and bottom. The standard depth of the memory chest area is approx. 1-1/2" deep and comes with two hidden solid brass hinges and a solid brass friction latch (see photo thumbnail above). Note: Memory Chests are made to order and will add 5 business days to the shipping date.

Follow These Rules To Better Determine The Size Of The Urn You Need

Please Note: When we refer to "healthy" weight, we mean a weight prior to any illness that may have resulted in weight loss, if applicable.

  1. In order to hold all of your loved one's ashes you'll need to know the approximate healthy body weight of the person or pet you are shopping for.

  2. One pound of healthy body weight will yield just less than 1 cubic inch of ash.
Assume for shopping purposes that: 1 pound of healthy body weight = 1 cubic inch ash
    .
Easy example: A cremated 100 pound person (healthy weight) will yield almost 100 cubic inches of ashes. So, if 1 pound = 1 cubic inch, you will need an urn that is approximately 90-100 cubic inches or larger.

  3. There are a lot of other factors that play into how much cremains (ashes) you will actually receive from the crematorium. Cremated remains can vary in amount due to different cremation processes, temperature variations and the bone structure of the decedent. Because of that we can't guarantee 100% of the time that an urn will be large enough but if you follow these rules, or call us to discuss, 99.95% of the time we'll be right on.

  4. Buy an urn at least slightly larger than you need to avoid having the urn be too small for the ashes. Urn capacity can only be too small. You can use any size urn that holds more than you need.

  5. Keepsake Cremation Jewelry is designed to hold a trace amount of ashes, similar to the size of a ball-head sewing pin.
