The Biodegradable Memento Cremation Urn (coral) is a water burial cremation urn that allows families to create a unique, meaningful and participatory ceremony by placing personal notes into the urn prior to placing it in the water. Can be used in the ocean, lake, river or ground. Twenty handmade paper notecards are included with each urn. Ashes are inserted in a bottom compartment.
The Memento Cremation Urn is the winner of the 2011 Red Dot Design Award; one of the worlds largest and most distinguished design competitions.
The urn is crafted by hand on antique molds from non-toxic, recycled food-grade paper and is hand painted using environmentally-friendly milk paints. The urn is designed to float briefly before sinking, and biodegrades naturally over time. The Memento Urn is packaged in a recyclable box for discreet and convenient transportation. This urn is TSA approved and perfect for carry-on when traveling. The urn is constructed to clearly allow security screeners to view the contents of the urn.
In conjunction with Passages International, a monetary donation will made to an ocean conservation organization dedicated to protecting our oceans with the purchase of each Memento Urn.Dimensions: 15" x 10" x 5.5" Capacity: 275 Cubic Inches Airline Travel Safe Twenty handmade paper notecards included
- Before being released into the water, this urn should be sealed with a non-toxic glue.
- The Memento Urn is designed to float briefly before gracefully sinking. Float times may vary depending on the weight of the cremated remains and the local water/weather conditions.
- Includes a water-soluble plastic bag (into which the cremated remains MUST be placed) which dissolves on contact with water. This allows the cremated remains to be dispersed quickly and the urn to remain submerged.

The federal Clean Water Act requires that cremated remains be scattered at least three nautical miles from land. If the scattering urn or container will not easily decompose, you must dispose of it separately. The EPA does not permit scattering at beaches or in wading pools by the sea. You must notify the EPA within 30 days of scattering ashes at sea.
The Clean Water Act also governs scattering in inland waters such as rivers, lakes and ponds. For inland water burial, you may be legally required to obtain a permit from the state agency that manages the waterway. Burial at Sea - Code of Federal Regulations Click here
